Notes from Philadelphia…

I had the distinct honor of representing HFA at the National Conference of State Legislators 2009 Summit in Philadelphia last week. The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. For five days, 5,000 state legislators and another 5,000 staff people plus their families lay siege to a convention center in Center City Philadelphia. During this time, legislators exchange ideas and war stories about their time representing the rest of us. In this space over the next few days I will detail some of my experience eavesdropping on their conversations. It is my hope that you will find these random musings, thoughts, and anecdotes as useful and instructive as I have. I look forward to sharing with you.
