Impact of Inaction: Rural America and Healthcare Reform

By:  Michelle Pascucci

The Center for Rural Affairs released a report entitled Why Health Care Reform Can’t Wait: The Benefits of Health Reform for Rural America this week.  Families and individuals living in rural communities have a higher rate of chronic disease and are also more likely to have individual policies than people in urban environments. The report outlines and analyzes the impact the current Senate and House bills will have on people living in rural areas.  The report finds that health care costs will continue to rise and more people in rural communities will lose their insurance with inaction.  The entire report and the news release from the Center for Rural Affairs is located at http://www.cfra.org/10/cant-wait.
