The financial burden of managing a bleeding disorder is enormous. HFA’s Helping Hands program is designed to establish a rapid, non-invasive source of relief for emergency situations to those persons who have been affected by Hemophilia or von Willebrands.  Every year, the Helping Hands program assists hundreds of families and individuals with housing, transportation and utility costs as well as other emergency need expenses.

Each application to the Helping Hands program is given careful consideration to the applicant’s personal circumstance while ensuring a minimum invasion of privacy. A referral to the program must be submitted by one of the following:

  • HTC-Nurse, Social Worker or Physician
  • Private Physician
  • Local or State Chapter or Organization
  • Homecare Representative
  • Representatives from other National or Regional organizations established to serve the bleeding disorder community.

Once a referral is made, the applicant is required to submit a written statement of need, proof of emergent situation, and complete a phone interview conducted by the HH Coordinator.

For additional information about this program, please contact the HFA at (toll free) 800-230-9797. To refer an applicant, please complete the online referral form below. HFA accesses these referrals on an ongoing basis during normal business hours.
